Wide receiver Antonio Bryant has said that he believes he will miss the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons with a small tear in his left quadriceps' muscle.
Bryant has been out since August 18 with the injury, causing him to miss the final two preseason games. He had fluid drained from the area last Friday.
Bryant said he is receiving electrical stimulation, ice and massage and is stretching to get healthy, but will need to rest the leg more before being able to get back onto the field
"I'm not trying to keep going out there and keep tearing it," Bryant said. "I'm just trying to focus on my health and get stronger."
The tear does not allow him to bring his leg all the way back when running, which limits his speed.
With Bryant out, the starting wide receiver tandem will be Joey Galloway and Terry Glenn – teammates from Ohio State. Randal Williams will take over the slot position, a reward for his preseason performances that netted him seven receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown.
Bryant tied for the team lead with six touchdowns last season and led all NFL rookies with 44 receptions for 733 yards.
