New England (10-4) at Dallas (9-5)
Sunday, 1:00 pm EST
The New England Patriots travel out of the conference and into
Dallas Sunday to battle the Cowboys in a matchup of teams
seeking a division title.
New England has clinched a playoff berth and can win the AFC
East title with a victory at Dallas or a Buffalo loss at Miami
next Monday.
Dallas can clinch the NFC East title with a win against Sunday
or a Philadelphia loss at the New York Jets Saturday and a
Washington loss at Arizona. The Cowboys clinch a playoff berth
with either a Philadelphia loss to the Jets or a Washington loss
at Arizona or a Minnesota loss against Tampa Bay Sunday.
New England defeated the lowly Jets 34-10 Sunday. The Patriots
have won three straight and seven of their last eight games to
move into sole possession of first place in the AFC East.
Curtis Martin, who carried 24 times for 91 yards against New
York, is just the 15th player in NFL history to rush for over
1,000 yards in his first two seasons.
Quarterback Drew Bledsoe, at age 24, became the youngest to pass
for more than 14,000 yards. Bledsoe was 24-of-42 for 251 yards
with a touchdown and an interception against the Jets.
Wide receiver Terry Glenn has moved into fourth place on the
all-time rookie receptions list with 74.
Dallas assumed first place in the NFC East with a 10-6 victory
over Arizona. The Cowboys have a one-game lead over the
Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles.
Michael Irvin had the second-best game of his career against the
Cardinals, catching eight passes for 198 yards and a touchdown.
Emmitt Smith looks to bounce back from an off-day, after
carrying 27 times for 70 yards and no touchdowns.
The Patriots have never beaten Dallas. The Cowboys lead the
all-time series, 6-0, including a 23-17 overtime victory at New
England in 1987.
